Journey into Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s Endless Summer Fun in June

Families invited to celebrate Father's Day, Eid al Adha, Pride and more at Atlanta’s only Children’s Museum

ATLANTA (May 30, 2023) – This June, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta offers a variety of engaging summertime events, including drop-in activities at Jane's Innovation Station where the Museum highlights the work of Zoologist Zuleyma Tang-Martinez. Kids can also explore the science of sound at the Science Bar, make yarn-woven masterpieces at the Art Studio and much more! The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus will join the Museum for the first time to celebrate Pride Month. Plus, special programs will be offered for Eid al Adha and Father’s Day. The new feature exhibit Animationland, invites children to channel their creativity, learn animation fundamentals and create stories through art and science.

June Special Programming

Pride Programming
Through Monday, July 1
The Museum observes Pride month with readings of “Red: A Crayon’s Story” by Michael Hall and “Worm Loves Worm” by J.J. Austrian. Families and children can engage in a game show entitled “Are You Smarter than a Computer?” The Science Bar will highlight the science of sound. At the Art Studio, Qualeasha Wood’s elaborate quilts will be the focus as young artists create yarn-woven crafts. Zoology and habitats are the main focus at Jane’s Innovation Station as the Museum showcases Venezuelan American Zoologist, Zuleyma Tang-Martinez’s work and research of the social behavior of animals.

Science Bar
The Science Bar activity explores the intricate world of the Science of Sound, drawing inspiration from electronic musician and composer, Wendy Carlos.

Art Studio
Kids can learn about artist Qualeasha Wood’s elaborate quilts and create yarn-woven crafts.

Jane’s Innovation Station

Guests will delve into Venezuelan American Zoologist, Zuleyma Tang-Martinez’s work and research the social behavior of animals.

Pride Month Celebration

Children’s Museum of Atlanta celebrates Pride Month with celebrations featuring an inaugural performance by the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus at the Museum on Saturday, June 8. All are welcome to honor LGBTQIA+ community members and allies.

Rich cultural festivities help visitors learn about Eid al Adha with the Museum in partnership with Ismaili Civic.

Father’s Day

In honor of Father’s Day, families are invited to honor all the amazing fathers, grandfathers, uncles and father figures that make life so special. The Museum will have activities dedicated to dads all day long including a special storytime and craft on stage!

Children will use their creativity and artistic side to color Father’s Day coloring sheets.

Juneteenth

Tuesday, June 18

Guests are invited to commemorate liberty and freedom this Juneteenth with the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Attendees will enjoy interactive storytelling by master storyteller Mama Koku, followed by an exciting Juneteenth performance! Children will learn about this day's history while participating in fun educational activities.

Animationland

Children’s Museum of Atlanta’snewest featured exhibit will educate little creatives on the art and science of animation while transporting guests of all ages to a fantastical land with a quirky cast of characters including Rooth, Drop, Inky, Uno and Kari. The exhibit focuses on the framework of the animation process using interactive features, including a sketching studio, a sound effects booth and the opportunity to plan and star in a stop-motion production. Families can visit the Museum to experience Animationland nowuntil Sunday, Sept. 8. Animationland is sponsored locally by Publix Supermarket Charities with additional support from City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Fulton County Arts & Culture.

Museum Admission: Online ticketing only is available at this time. Phone booking is available with ample notice and will be booked via online reservation. Members must pre-book and will be able to redeem their $5 voucher online. Babies 11 months and younger and members are admitted for free and must reserve their free ticket online prior to arriving at the Museum. All daily programs are included in price of admission. Museum Hours: The Museum will operate in a timed entry model where guests can visit between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum will be closed on Wednesdays. Please check the Museum website to confirm hours of operation.
