Hate Crime by Vincent L. Scarsella
Hate Crime is a timely play about race relations in America told in the context of a legal thriller. Malcolm McLeod, a rising black lawyer, is assigned to represent Hunter Kleiss, an avowed white supremacist, who has been charged with the murder of a black activist preacher during a protest led by Kleiss of the renaming of a city park for Martin Luther King Jr. During his representation of Kleiss and the trial that follows, Malcolm falls in love with Kleiss' sister, Eva, and meets a former member of the Black Panther Party who forces Malcolm to confront what it means to be black in white America.

You can't earn the role without getting the callback, and this workshop will guide you through all phases including headshots and resumes, self-taping and digital submissions, large-format in-person auditions ("cattle calls"), and tips and strategies for the callback. While you are not required to participate, Jenkins will work with people interested in doing a shortened 1 minute audition that features two contrasting monologue excerpts to help show how to apply the tools
