The heir apparent to a Miami political dynasty, Carolina Clarens is the seemingly perfect candidate to be the next mayor. The only problem is … nobody likes her. She's an arrogantly honest candidate whose scorched-earth style rattles the city's political power players, and she is tanking in the polls. Enter Alex, the slick D.C. political consultant tasked with smoothing out her edges and getting her the unpredictable Cuban vote.
Based on Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," "The Cuban Vote" draws you into the middle of Carolina and Alex's quest for the Miami mayorship … and each other. A romantic political comedy that can only happen in Miami turns into "tremendo arroz con mango," and all for the coveted Cuban vote. They say all is fair in love and war, but nothing is fair in love and politics.
This event is co-sponsored by the University of Miami's Michele Bowman Underwood Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, Joseph Carter Memorial Fund, Morrison Fund for Cuban Studies, and the AMIGOS of the Cuban Heritage Collection.
