The 40th annual Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival will feature nationally acclaimed songwriters in venues along the Florida / Alabama Gulf Coast from November. The festival is an opportunity for seasoned and aspiring songwriters and musicians from all over the world to have their songs heard, and for the public to learn the stories behind the lyrics that only the song’s author can express.

Schedule:


10:00am - 3:00pm: Workshop with Mac Walter Basic and Advanced Guitar skills
Basic Workshop 10am-12pm
This workshop is ideal for writers with basic guitar skills with an emphasis on the basic understanding of keys and how the primary chords work. Basic chord theory and concepts.

Advanced Workshop 1pm-3pm
This workshop is ideal for someone with pretty good guitar skills.
Looking to expand your knowledge on theory background?
This will include the use of chords not traditionally found in the key, such as chord substitution and reharmonization. If time allows; the use of passing chords and possibly modulation.
Both Workshops will be in the Phoenix 10 next door to the Flora-Bama in the conference room
