CANSTRUCTION® RETURNS TO ICON PARK DURING HUNGER ACTION MONTH

Local Architects & Engineers Design Creative Canned Food Displays to Benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s Hunger Relief Efforts

WHAT:

Ready, set, build! Canstruction® is back again this year to help raise awareness about hunger while providing resources to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida for relief efforts. Canstruction® will coincide with Hunger Action Month, a national campaign designed to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire action nationwide.

This year, five (5) teams of local architecture and engineering firms will design canned food displays around the theme of the Olympic games, “Everyone CAN win – Lighting the way to no hunger!”. On Saturday, September 21, members of each team will build their concepts within an 8x8x8-foot space at ICON Park. The community is invited to watch the designs take shape.

Displays will be “de-canstructed” on Sunday, September 29, and the nonperishable items will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution to its network of more than 750 nonprofit feeding partners across Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Brevard, Marion and Volusia counties.

The competition is sponsored by ICON Park.
