White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church is a thriving church with a long history. Worship services began in 1721 at "The Old Meeting House", almost one mile north of the church's present site. The first services were held in a 25 by 40 feet log cabin on the southeast side of Polly Drummond Hill Road. The church called its first full-time pastor in 1724. A growing congregation built a second building at the site in the 1730's.

In 1752, a church building was erected on the current site and that building stood for 103 years.  It was replaced by the present structure in 1855. Seating 212 persons, it was dedicated in 1856.  The congregation has been worshipping here ever since.

In 1961, a 10-classroom Education Building was erected to accommodate the activities of a growing congregation. Now called the Nurture Building, it was expanded in 1992 to include 18 classrooms, a larger Fellowship Hall, new staff offices and an upgraded kitchen, including moving offices to the first floor and making the basement and first floor handicapped accessible.  The addition doubled the size of the Nurture Building.

The next major change was to the Sanctuary Building when an elevator and steeple were added in 1997. The elevator made it possible for everyone to use the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings.  At the present time a team is working on a plan to refresh the first floor of our Sanctuary Building to make it more suitable for fellowship and more welcoming to our visitors.

White Clay Creek celebrated its 275th anniversary in 1996, and we will celebrate our 300th anniversary in 2021.  Stay tuned!  You can learn more of the church's history by visiting the History Corner in our Library in the Christian Nurture Building, or ask for a WCCPC history booklet if you don’t have one.
