Everyone loves their pets. But choosing who you buy your pet supplies from can be a daunting task. From exotic fish and birds to hypoallergenic dog food, we are here to help you find only the best. Here are our favorite pet stores in Delaware.

Concord Pet Foods & Supplies, Middletown, DE

Established in 1978 and formerly operated from the inside of a trailer, the Mutschler Family saw the need for high-quality horse feed in the greater Wilmington area. In 1981, Larry Mutschler opened his first retail location along the Concord Pike in that very town. Starting out small the company soon grew to establish more than one location by 1998 while continuing to provide quality products.

Pet Kare II, Newark, DE

Locally owned and operated, Pet Kare II was established in 2001, and between pet training, accident patrol, food, exercise, and grooming, they can pretty much help with any pet situation. They have stocked their store with all of the best products from Kong, NaturVet, Old Mother Hubbard, and Lupine Pet.

Riverfront Pets, Wilmington, DE

Riverfront Pets in Wilmington is locally-owned and operated with a mission of giving your pets them healthy food options as well as top-quality toys and supplies. Riverfront also offers grooming, training, and walking services.

Millville Pet Shop, Millville, DE

Big enough to carry an abundant supply of pet products but no so big they don’t know you and your pet by name, Millville carries a diverse set of products, including hypoallergenic pet food, tropical, pond, saltwater fish, corals, and live crickets for reptiles. Established in 2006 in a historic building downtown, you will also be amazed at the expansive Aquatics Department.

Fur Baby Pet Resort, Milford, DE

This pet store is different from other pet stores. Rather than being your typical small business pet shop with a few of this-and-that on the shelves and one big department or two, Fur Baby is more about the pet-pampering side of the market. Not only is the business a grocery store with high-end food, but it is also a socialization facility, and overnight hotel for dog, and a grooming salon.

William's Greenbank Aquarium Inc, Wilmington, DE

William's Greenbank Aquarium is a small locally-owned pet store that specializes in fish and reptiles. In fact, that is pretty much all that they do (and all they have done for over 37 years). So, whether your milieu is exotic freshwater fish, saltwater invertebrates, or exotic reptiles, Greenbank get deliveries of new stock twice weekly and stands by their product.

Yarn and Bone Pet Supply Company, Camden, DE

Featuring self-service bathing stations, Yarn and Bone also offers age-appropriate nutrition options for you and your pet. In fact, everything in the store is “all-natural and minimally processed.” That's because owners Matt Moorefield and Michael Morris have experienced what it is like to feed a pet with stomach issues and food allergies.

M&D Bird World Exotic Birds, Harbeson, DE

M&D hand-rears all of their bird stock, and they wean them on high-quality food and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  Everyone on their staff is proudly a bird owner, and their hospital-grade nursery is self-promoted as one of “the most advanced in the U.S.” Also, all birds sold by M&D have been tested for the “Bird Flu” and other diseases, which is something they advise all owners to consider when buying birds from anyone.

Yuppy Puppy, Bethany Beach, DE

Established in 2002, Yuppy Puppy is now owned by Jamie Idzi, who is not your typical small-business owner.  Jamie graduated high-school in just 2004, which is around the time she started working at Yuppy Puppy. Then, in 2007, then-owner and founder, Nicole De Angelis offered for Jamie to buy the business. She did, a now, Yuppy Puppy continues to provide delicious and nutritious snacks and treats, dog collars and leashes, and dog food. Check out her brick and mortar store today or shop on her newly upgraded online store.
