A Solo Exhibition: 'This Don’t Feel Like Freedom' by BUCK!

Museum Nectar Art Consultancy is pleased to partner with Gallery O on H to present This Don’t Feel Like Freedom: A solo exhibition by artist Rodney BUCK! Herring, curated by Dr. Lauren Davidson.

Inspired by his readings and lived experience, artist Rodeny Buck! Herring leads us on a journey through otherworldly landscapes where his figures and words question the concept of freedom. Layered canvases of thought-provoking scenes combine figurative beings, abstract imagery, and text to further interrogate the concept of freedom and why it may be situationally elusive through the artist’s lens. Colliding imaginings of eyes, mouths, and bodily compositions challenge viewers to consider the effects of this so-called freedom on the human spirit.

In this deeply personal body of work, Buck! draws from abstract expressionism and artificial realism to communicate the multiplicity of self when a man is confronted with what it is to be “free”. A self-reckoning on canvas uncovers the tortured state of being while surfing above the unrelenting challenge to simply exist.
