Norwalk Symphony is partnering with the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County and will perform an all-string concert using 6 violins, 1 viola and 1 cello from Violins of Hope in the ensemble. These string instruments were owned and played by Jews before and during the Holocaust; and in some cases, they were played in the concentration camps, hidden, or thrown from cattle cars. They have been meticulously restored by Israeli father-and-son violin makers, Amnon z"l and Avshalom Weinstein.

Each instrument has a unique emotional history that tells a story of perseverance and hope. Watch the PBS Documentary on Violins of Hope

These stories, along with music from predominantly Jewish composers, will be featured in the November 16th concert.  The program for youth on November 17th will be based on the Symphony’s (Not) Just for Kids program model.
