About the Artist:
SALLY ROGERS work as a quilter spans 50 of my 69 years on the planet. Although Sally is mostly known as a professional folksinger, songwriter and educator, my “chocolate” is found at my sewing machine. Locally, she helped found the group Quilters: Piece for Peace in the 1980’s. All artwork is informed by our life’s experiences. Music and art share many of the same elements: line, form, color, tempo, etc. While I do think a lot in terms of these elements as I sew, I am mostly an intuitive quilter. I’m always asking the question, “What if…?” Sally is a member of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates), and images of her quilts can be found at her website, www.sallyrogers.com.
AL MATHES has always had an extensive interest in landscapes whether that be hands on structuring, as in landscape design and construction or in my abstracted paintings.
Lots of elements are at play - color, shape, format, etc. but at the center is one’s reaction to a presented situation. Sharing, memory, empathy and a sense of mystery are central concerns. Many of his pieces and a video can be seen at https://almathes.wixsite.com/almathes.
