Navarra by Sarasate: A dazzling violin double concerto full of Spanish passion and virtuosity, showcasing the technical brilliance of HSO violinists Leonid Sigal and Jaroslaw Lis both celebrating milestone years with the HSO.
Peter and the Wolf: Prokofiev’s beloved narrated piece for all ages, where each character is represented by a different instrument, making it an enchanting introduction to the orchestra for children and adults alike. This piece will be brought to life by the captivating narration of philanthropist and community leader June Archer.
Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5: Composed during World War II, this symphony is a grand statement of hope and endurance, filled with dramatic intensity that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit.
“We are thrilled to open our 2024-2025 season with this program that is a beautiful blend of storytelling, musical energy, and emotional depth,” said Steve Collins, President & CEO of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. “In addition, we are celebrating Jaroslaw Lis’ 30th year and Leonid Sigal’s 20th year with the HSO. We can’t think of a better way to start the season than with this celebration!”
“Peter and the Wolf teaches us an important lesson about bravery in the face of challenges. In times like these, with all the world is throwing at us, it's a reminder to stay courageous through it all. I hope to bring this story to life in a way that resonates with everyone and inspires them to embrace that message of strength and resilience," said June Archer, narrator.
