Charles Ives and the American Tradition: Composers with a Side Hustle
This program is dedicated to composers who also had other jobs. Ives was an insurance executive whose work laid the groundwork for the field of estate planning. Borodin was a noted chemist who made some important discoveries in organic chemistry. And Philip Glass made ends meet in the 1970s as a taxi driver.
