Emma Horwitz is a writer from New York City who was born during a cold month. Recent productions include: Two Sisters Find a Box of Lesbian Erotica in the Woods, written with Bailey Williams, dir. Tara Elliot, The Exponential Festival in collaboration with New Georges, Winter 2024; Mary Gets Hers, dir. Josiah Davis, The Playwrights Realm at MCC, Fall 2023 (NYT Critic's Pick). Emma is the 2023/2024 Page One Playwright with the Playwrights Realm, an alum of Clubbed Thumb's Early Career Writers' Group, and an Affiliated Artist with New Georges, where she received a 2022 Audrey Residency with Bailey Williams. She has developed work at theaters like Two Headed Rep (Reno & Moll), The Brick, Dixon Place, New York Theatre Workshop, the Williamstown Theatre Festival (2020 Playwright in Residence), and elsewhere. Work in fiction and comix have been published by Joyland Magazine, Two Serious Ladies, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Spiralbound, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, and more. She has recently held residencies with the William Inge Center for the Arts, Erik Ehn's Stillwright, and was the winner of the 2022 Chelsey/Bumbalo Playwriting Award for Gay and Lesbian Theater for The Executrix.
