Klezmer Dance Workshop with Sarah Myerson

The Nu Haven Kapelye will present a Klezmer dance workshop with Sarah Myerson. This workshop will take place at Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven in Orange. While I find myself mostly playing Klezmer concerts, this music was created as dance music. The challenge I’m finding when we play shows is that people who, at most shows, normally just get up and dance suddenly become afraid that won’t know what to do, or what steps to dance. What’s great about these Klezmer dance workshops that we offer is that these are liberating spaces where you can discover what to do and how to execute some of the fun moves in a non-judgmental and highly supportive setting. Sarah is a great teacher who is encouraging and experienced and its loads of fun for us in the Kapelye playing the music while dancers work on the steps and the moves.
