Hybrid meeting (in-person and virtual)

On June 10th, HFFC is pleased to host a conversation with HFFC member John Connell and Triangle Community Center director Rachel Simon as they consider coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community – then and now.  John will share his coming-out journey: his childhood influences, young adulthood and middle years, and then his coming out in late adulthood. John and Rachel will discuss the challenges of – and support for – coming out now, versus 20 to 30 years ago.

John Connell, now retired, worked in the telecom industry in various management positions. He currently lives in Cheshire, CT and is the membership chair for the Humanists Association of CT (HAC). Rachel Simon is Executive Director of the Triangle Community Center (TCC), an LGBTQA+ nonprofit in Norwalk, CT.  (TCC is the leading provider of programming and resources to nurture growth and connection within the LGBTQ community in the Fairfield area.)  An activist and educator, Rachel Simon is also the Chair of the Westchester County LGBTQ+ Advisory Board and on the board of PrideWorks for Youth.

This meeting is free and open to all.  Join us at the Wilton (Connecticut) Quaker Meeting House for the presentation and come to the social hour beforehand.  Pizza and refreshments will be served from 6-6:45 PM. We will also be recording and broadcasting this meeting virtually via Zoom for anyone who is unable to join us in person. HFFC meets on the second Monday of each month.
