Dutch Fogarty Independence Day Celebration

The James "Dutch" Fogarty Independence Day Committee is thrilled to announce this year's celebration (the 39th) rain date Sunday, July 7, 2024.  The event will be held on the grounds of the CT State Community College Manchester (Manchester Community College). Admission and Parking to the event are free although those able to donate to help defray costs will be afforded an opportunity at parking lot entrances.

The event begins at 4:00 p.m. and includes numerous organized activities for children and young adults, facepainting, live music, an extensive variety of food options, novelties, a vendors market and concludes with what has been described as one of Connecticut’s best fireworks displays. Local sensation “Silver Fox String Band” is live between 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. followed by one of Connecticut’s most in-demand bands “Nightshift” entertaining the crowd with covers of only the most popular and fun songs of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s between 7:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.  The always spectacular fireworks display begins precisely at 9:30 p.m.

Lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and coolers are welcome (no glassware please).  No drones, grills, candles, personal fireworks or sparklers are allowed during the event.  It is strongly urged that pets be left at home for their own health and safety.  Please note:  Community College buildings and grounds are designated smoke-free.  The traditional Fogarty Chicken BBQ will not be offered due to operational difficulties however ten (10) food truck/concessions will be on-site to satisfy diverse cravings.
