Birch Mountain Road To Gay City State Park - Moderate
Family-friendly / Hike / Nature Walk
3.5 miles
Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury is pleased to be offering a moderate, family friendly hike. The hike will follow the “Gay City Connector Trail” from Birch Mountain Road to Gay City State Park (approximately 3.5 miles round trip) and visit the ruins of the 18th century mill town that has slowly been reclaimed by the forest. The trail passes through a picturesque example of New England mixed hardwood forest, along wetlands, offering frequent reminders of Connecticut’s agrarian past. The stone fences, cellar holes, and old charcoal sites that dot the the trail, mixed with a little imagination, offer a picture of what Connecticut looked like more than 200 years ago.
Refreshment will be offered at the conclusion of the hike. Please, join us in celebrating this thoroughly enjoyable annual event!
