Art Exhibit - Celebrating 50 Years of Art
Saturday, August 03, 2024 from 10:00am to 02:00pm
The Norfolk Library
9 Greenwoods Road East
This summer the Norfolk Library celebrates the remarkable variety of art that has been on display at the Library since the art exhibition program was begun by the Library Associates in 1974. The 50th Anniversary Exhibition features the work of 27 artists who have had multiple shows at the Library in the past, and includes paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and mobiles. Some still work in Norfolk and the northwest corner. Others have moved to studios elsewhere. All artwork is for sale.
The first exhibition the Associates organized was in August 1974, soon after their formation, and featured the artwork of the late Vinton “Vint” Lawrence, known for his political cartoons and caricatures of celebrities. One of his prints (not for sale) will be included in the exhibition. From its auspicious beginning, the Associates art program grew into monthly exhibitions, in which over 250 artists have shown their work.
Artists whose work is represented in the 50th Anniversary Exhibition are: Janet Andre Block, Peter Coffeen, Gil Eisner, Madeline Falk, John Funt, Ann Getsinger, Rosemary Gill, Jean Grasmere, Kate Gridley, Katherine Griswold, Hans Heuberger, Tom Hlas, Jim Jasper, Wayne Jenkins, Christopher Little, Ruthann Olsson, Babs Perkins, Bevan Ramsay, Susan Rand, Jon Riedeman, Nina Ritson, Brad Robinson, Susan Rood, Turi Rostad, Bridget Taylor, Margo Trout, and Leslie Watkins.
