The Highest 200-Miler in North America!

Can you travel 202 miles, on foot, in 108 hours?

We think you can! Here’s How It Works

This 200-Mile Ultra features a series of out-and-back segments designed to afford you ample opportunities for self-care and support at the same central location, as well as ample support along the course. The race starts and ends at Music Meadows Aid Station, where you are welcome to set up your own lodging option (sleep in your vehicle, tent, camper van, roof top tent, or camper trail <12′ in length) within a large field. The 8.8-Mile out and back to Music Pass and back takes place on a USFS Road, and a short segment of single track trail. The 43.2-Mile out and back to Venable Aid Station and back features the 100% Single & Double Track Rainbow Trail (Only wide enough for 1 ATV).

There are just two cut-offs for this event: The final cut-off of 4:00pm on Sunday, and a 10:30am cut-off on the same day where you must have started your final out and back to Music Pass by that time. That’s It!  Your game plan for tackling the 200-mile distance on your way to those cut-offs is entirely up to you. Treat it as a stage race with sleep stops each night. Power-hike it with minimal sleep. Stash a sleeping bag in your drop bag at Horn Creek and sleep out there under the stars. You just need to be at mile 193.6 by 10:30am Sunday (102h, 30min) where you’ll then tackle those 8 final miles by 4:00pm in order to become an official finisher and receive the coveted Sangre de Cristo 200-Mile Finisher’s Buckle.

The first 200-Mile ultra in the world (New England Ultras 200) was directed by our very own RD, John Lacroix, in November 2008. Join us in the distance he pioneered as we welcome the 200-mile distance to the HPRS schedule of races!
