WARNING: Mi Ama is a new collection of work by Denver poet, artist, and musician Diego Florez-Arroyo that explores the deep, innate connection between humans and the concept of “mother” in all its forms-biological, earth, and spiritual.
About the Artist
Diego Florez-Arroyo is a full-time poet, artist, and musician based in Denver, Colorado. His work spans various mediums, from large-scale prefabricated installations to multimedia theatrical performances. Diego is a founding member of the Denver-based band Los Mocochetes, a group that blends activism with music, creating a powerful voice for social change. Releasing a 7" Vinyl in December on Denver's Own Unit E label.
Diego's artistic journey is deeply rooted in his cultural heritage and personal experiences. He recently completed a mural for the Pueblo Levee Mural Project in Pueblo, Colorado, showcasing his ability to create impactful public art. His work extends beyond visual arts, as he regularly performs with the avant-garde improvisational group Art Compost and Word Mechanics at the iconic Mercury Cafe in Denver. Additionally, Diego is a member of the Soul Jazz Rock Trio, The Cosmosmiths, where his musical explorations continue to shine.
