About the Play:
Harvey Fierstein’s newly revised two-act version of Torch Song Trilogy is a seminal work celebrating gay culture and its evolution over the span of the late 1970s and ‘80s. It follows the life of Arnold Beckoff, a torch song-singing, Jewish drag queen living in New York City. Told with a likable, human voice, Torch Song follows Arnold’s odyssey through his cynical disillusionment with love to find happiness in New York. This MTC revival of a landmark play by Fierstein, himself an icon and staple of American musical theatre and Broadway, draws us in to explore the families we’re born into, the families we choose, and the battles to bring them all home.
