About Us:

The School : First organized in 1883, the Roski School of Art and Design at USC is the oldest art school in Southern California.

A supportive environment for experimentation in visual art of all media, the school encourages interdisciplinary, progressive approaches to studio art, design, curatorial practice, and critical studies. With equal emphasis on making and thinking, the USC Roski School prepares artists, designers, curators, and writers to contribute in new and meaningful ways both to their fields and to society at large.

The Roski School grants Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees at the undergraduate level and Master of Arts (MA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), and Master of Public Art Studies (MPAS) degrees at the graduate level.

The Roski School's faculty is a diverse group of internationally recognized artists and educators. Every semester, the school welcomes a wide range of visiting artists, writers, critics, curators, and art historians, who give lectures, present their work, and engage with students in studio visits and group critiques.

The Roski School offers undergraduate studio courses in an array of media, including painting, drawing, photography, design, video and digital media, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking, along with classroom-based courses in the critical study of art. From these, students assemble their own unique, individualized courses of study according to their interests. Progressive, interdisciplinary approaches are highly encouraged.
