Season Opening Concert featuring new works by living composers, as well as an appearance by a young conductor (winner of the 23-24 Season Finale Conducting prize). We will release more about ALL the repertoire, and about this outstanding young musician soon.
The Southland Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is pleased to present our 2024-2025 Season Opening concert, under the direction of Music Director and Conductor, Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann. We're excited to open our season with a concert in Beautiful, Historic, Bethel Congregational Church.
Our Program includes Faure's "Cantique de Jean Racine" and "Requiem", Op. 48, with soloists Coril Prochnow, soprano and Michal Dawson Connor, baritone, as well as the "Elegie" for Cello and Orchestra, featuring our principal cellist, Jocelyn Francis and featuring student conductor Adam Timney
Also on the Program - "Daring Voyage" - World premiere by composer and SSO violinist Noah Cisneros; and "The Heavenly Country" for Cello and Strings, by Michal Dawson Connor, again featuring principal cellist Jocelyn Francis.
