Musical Theatre: Next Level Teens
Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00am to 04:00pm
Garry Marshall Theatre
4252 W Riverside Dr,
Musical Theatre: Next Level Teens is designed to prepare teens with a passion for musical theatre to gain an edge in collegiate and professional performance opportunities.
Focusing on solo performance, stage presence, and audition technique we will refine elements of:
- Solo vocal performance
- Acting a song
- Character connection
- Making clear choices
- Gestures/body language in storytelling
- Unpacking audition pro tips
Participants will work with GMT’s Producing Artistic Director Joseph Leo Bwarie (Jersey Boys), LA vocal coach Rachael Lawrence and special guest coaches.
Participants should prepare two 32-bar cuts of appropriate musical theatre audition material. If you would rather bring an entire song and have help making a cut, that is also an option.
What are appropriate song selections?
Age appropriate songs that suit a participant’s vocal range.
The bonus ProPackage additional 4th day of the program will focus on resumes, audition logistics, audition coaching, guest casting director Q&A, and the musical theatre self-tape. The one-on-one appointments include a mini headshot session with coaching by photographer and prep-team, makeup/grooming touch-up by industry makeup artist, in advance wardrobe consultation from industry pro.
