MCRD San Diego Boot Camp Challenge

The Boot Camp Challenge and Festival is a day long adventure, which includes a 3-mile race using the fabled Marine Corps Recruit Training Area. Many of the same obstacles (tunnel crawls, log hurdles, 6 foot climbing wall, cargo net crawls) used by the young men and women in their quest to become a U.S. Marine. In addition, live music, fun giveaways, and a Ooh-Rah good time await you as you enter the gates of the fabled Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Admission is free to the festival, register for the Challenge. See how the Marines are made!

The 3-mile course features over 60 Marine Corps Drill Instructors encouraging and motivating runners along the course. This is an invitation from MCRD San Diego to the community to experience a truly unique opportunity to be a Marine for the day, using a fun race format. The course is designed for all fitness levels, no penalty for missed or incomplete obstacles. Great corporate team builder opportunity!

Schedule:

6:30 – 8:45 a.m. – Packet Pickup
8:15 – 8:55 a.m. – Pre-Ceremony

Introduction to Senior Drill Instructor, Safety Brief, Static Displays, Commanding General’s Remarks, National Anthem, Marines’ Hymn

9:00 a.m. – Race begins in the following waves:

Individual men, Individual women, 3-person teams

10:30 a.m. – Post-race music and award ceremony (Top 3 male and top 3 female finishers)

K-9 demonstrations, camouflage face paint, interactive virtual games, live music, static displays

11:00 a.m. – Race Ends
1:00 p.m. – End of Event

Age categories are as follows: 14-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & above.

Awards go to the first three places in each individual age category and each three-person team category
