J. Baldwin Wines
About Us:
J. Baldwin Wines is a small, family owned winery and vineyards, dedicated to Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. We started in 2000 at Dawn Hill Ranch in California's Sonoma Valley. Our newly bonded winery is located at 1400 feet above Glen Ellen on the Sonoma Slope of the Mayacamas Mountains adjacent to our Rattlesnake Ridge Vineyard.
The first mountain vineyard in Northern California was planted nearby in 1857. During these early years, Nelligan Road was the stagecoach route to Napa Valley.
We believe that wine is made in the vineyard with minimal intervention in the winery. Meticulous attention to the vines, lower yield and merciless triage at harvest will produce distinctive wines, reflecting their complete habitat: altitude, soil, sun exposure and microclimate.
Wine is an essential element in any cuisine, and the rich agricultural tradition in Sonoma Valley is an important contributor to the cuisine of the Bay Area. Zinfandel, America's heritage grape, has been planted in this valley since the mid-1800s. We strive to make a worthy contribution to that tradition.
