Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival

The American Cinematheque is thrilled to partner with the Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival in its 16th year to bring some of the most exciting Brazilian Cinema to Los Angeles. The festival is dedicated to promoting talents from Brazil’s Cinema who contribute to transforming the Brazilian film culture and represents the best of independent Brazilian cinema made in the past year.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
HBO Original series, CITY OF GOD: THE FIGHT RAGES ON is an adapted continuation of the literary work of Paulo Lins and follows the characters 20 years after the events of the renowned film, through the lenses of Rocket (Buscapé). Starring  Alexandre Rodrigues, Roberta Rodrigues, Thiago Martins along with debuting talents from Rio de Janeiro, the plot unfolds in the early 2000s when the release of a young drug dealer from prison puts Cidade de Deus back into dispute. Residents find themselves trapped between drug traffickers, militias and public authorities, but the need to escape this cycle makes the community unite to face the oppressor.
