Arleene Correa Valencia is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Bay Area. Correa Valencia’s work investigates ethical, political, and cultural issues as they relate to and affect undocumented communities in the U.S. Her work is particularly concerned with the visibility and invisibility of undocumented migrant workers. Using domestic fabrics of personal significance and remnants of clothing worn by those who have experienced family separation in their journey to the U.S., Correa Valencia creates multimedia textiles that bring the stories of these communities into focus. Her work in various mediums, from painting and textiles to social practice, is both deeply personal and universal in scope.

In 2020, Correa Valencia completed her MFA at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She was an inaugural recipient of the Bay Area Fellowship at Headlands Center for the Arts. In 2023, Correa Valencia was named a Eureka Fellow by the Fleishhacker Foundation. Correa Valencia’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, SF Arts Commission, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Alfred University, YBCA, and Berkeley Art Center. Her work has been collected by the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas; Grand Valley State University Art Gallery, Michigan; Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University, Kansas; and 21c Museum Hotels, Louisville, Kentucky.
