Written and Directed by Ruben Amavizca-Murua
Developed and devised by Grupo de Teatro SINERGIA
Ayotzinapa (Situacion: Desaparecido) tells the true story of the disappearance of 43 rural student teachers working with indigenous communities in 2014. Using news sources, the story of each victim unfolds. It’s believed government officials and the army conspired against the school, due to its progressive ideology. To date no concrete evidence regarding a culprit has been determined. Ayotzinapa deals with erasure of people and opportunities for the indigenous communities, as well as the lack of government accountability. Mexico has one of the highest rates of disappearances in the world.
