Brehm Vineyards
About Us:
Down to row selection, periodic inspections and harvest date decision, we work to achieve a classic expression of your chosen wine grape. We work with vineyards to provide grapes that are hand grown, hand harvested. We endeavor, with nature’s warm blessing, to provide grapes picked for classic structure and character.
Peter Brehm selects the grapes offered here and manages our Estate Vineyard, White Salmon Vineyard. Steve Bell and Monica Carson provide the vine to container operations. Paul Rago makes sure your orders are fulfilled in an experienced, competent manner.
Brehm Vineyards has followed vines up and down the Pacific coast, with few exceptions. Your patronage allows us to explore some of the finest vine sites in North America. It was nice and new and unexplored in 1970 when Peter began professionally. We still are into exploring new vineyard areas, new varietals, at different price points, usually before the public or trade knowledge. We enjoyed Stag Leap, Fay Vineyard Cabernet until it was discovered and priced to match its bottle price. As the knowledge of tradesman’s and vineyards has advanced over the years, the Cabernets I sell today are higher quality than those sold from Rutherford and Stag’s Leap in decades past.
Every tradesman develops a style, a preference. Brehm Vineyards grapes are typically sourced from sites near the colder edge of the varietal’s ripening region. Grapes are hand grown, hand harvested and meticulously inspected.
Grapes are processed in a manner to minimize maceration. The most impactful decisions in winemaking are those made before your grapes reach your fermenter. Choosing those vines from that vineyard (with frozen you can obtain a good idea of the grape – with future you hope), choosing the date to pick, processing the grapes, delivery to you.
Since 1986 as a grape provider, since 1990 as a grape grower, Brehm Vineyards takes pride in negotiating the best grapes at the best price so our customers have a product they can work with.
