Always in search of the very best wines in every category and price point, the wine experts at Anhelo have been seeking high-quality, reasonably priced Mexican wines to serve at the restaurant. Finding them in Bodegas Guanamé, a family-owned winery founded in 2011 in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Anhelo is thrilled to announce its first Mexican wine dinner featuring host Alejandro Torres Barrera, the winery’s president and co-founder.

This magical wining and dining experience takes place in the intimate and welcoming ambiance of Anhelo on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. Excellent wine pours will be matched by unparalleled dishes artfully curated by Anhelo Owner and Chef Ivan Jacobo.

Barrera is a third-generation farmer from Rancho Pájaro Azul. The family vineyard’s history began upon realizing that the climatic characteristics of its terroir were ideal for vine cultivation, located at 1,800 meters above sea level, with warm days, cool nights and sandy loam soils. In 2011, the planting of Viñedos Pájaro Azul began with varieties such as syrah, malbec, merlot, tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon.

Always passionate about the world of wine and his love for the land, Barrera’s leadership has solidified Bodegas Guanamé’s presence in the Mexican market and expanded it into the U.S. market, beginning exports of its wines in 2020. Recently, Guanamé was awarded Grand Gold Medal at Concours Mondial de Brussels 2024 with Pájaro Azul 2020 and Grand Gold Medal at Bacchus Madrid 2024 with Guanamé Sauvignon Blanc 2023.

Chef Jacobo’s menu for the evening will enhance and heighten each wine served, providing guests with a complex breadth of flavors and a memorable experience overall. The price for this wine dinner begins at $150 per person, plus tax, gratuity and optional add-ons, and includes an incredible five-course meal complemented by five to six wine pairings.

Guests can book their reservation via opentable.com/booking.
