"Chicken, Pickin and Politickin" celebrating the poultry industry in the Arkansas River Valley. Mt Nebo State Park has played host to the Mt Nebo Chicken Fry since 1948. Tyson's award-winning cooks and Chamber volunteers prepare chicken strips, smoked chicken and all the fixins. Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the day.
The Chicken Fry in its day was THE political event of the year. Politicians from all over the state came to enjoy the view, the chicken and win over the voters of Yell County. After being moved to Veterans Riverfront Park for a number of years, in 2017 the community proved that the Mt Nebo Chicken Fry belongs back atop Mt Nebo.
