Juneteenth in the Bluff: An Arts & Culture Festival
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is hosting “Juneteenth in the Bluff: An Arts & Culture Festival” on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 3 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. in downtown Pine Bluff’s Delta Rhythm and Bayous Cultural District.
UAPB invites all of Arkansas to join its administrators, faculty, staff and students for a daylong festival filled with food vendors, musicians, artists, street performers and giveaways. From food trucks to face painting to festival merchandise, hundreds are expected to gather for the kickoff of the Juneteenth weekend.
Juneteenth is the cultural tradition that spawned a federal holiday marking the delayed announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation to the enslaved in Texas in 1865 – seven years before Branch Normal College was founded.
