We’ll start this road trip off at Kennedy Coffee in Bentonville. Kennedy Coffee roasts its specialty coffee in house and it’s a perfect spot to wake yourself up. This beloved Northwest Arkansas coffee shop is open seven days a week.

Pea Ridge Battlefield Park, Pea Ridge, AR

After you’ve gotten energized by the fabulous coffee at Kennedy Coffee, head on over to the Pea Ridge Battlefield for some scenic views. This historic spot sits on 4,300 acres in Benton County. Some 26,000 soldiers fought in this famous battle.

Cannonball Café, Pea Ridge, AR

Once you’ve taken in the views at the Pea Ridge Battlefield, you’ll want to stop for lunch at this great spot. The Cannonball Café specializes in barbecue that’s so good it falls off the bone!

Pea Ridge National Military Loop, near Garfield, AR

Since you’re already in the area, why not take a nice hike to work off all that barbecue? The 6.6-mile Pea Ridge National Military Loop is a great hiking trail in a beautiful setting.

Vanzant Fruit Farms, Lowell, AR

This local favorite has been growing amazing fruit and vegetables for over 48 years. Not only can you enjoy the juicy apples grown at Vanzant’s, but this farm also harvests peaches, grapes, pumpkins, and tomatoes.  

Clayton House, Fort Smith, AR

After you’ve had your fill at the apple orchard, head on down I40 to the haunted Clayton House in Fort Smith. Rumor has it that this famous house is home to a ghost or two. While you’re in the area, check out the rest of the interesting Belle Grove Historic District.

Arlie Mucks, Fort Smith, AR

Once you’ve sufficiently scared yourself at the Clayton House, head downtown to Arlie Muck’s on Garrison. This local favorite has been serving the Fort Smith area since 1978 and is a great place to unwind with a few drinks. You can shoot some pool and control the juke box while you’re there.

Start your day off right with some down-home cookin’ at Calico County. You haven’t experienced a true country breakfast until you’ve eaten here!

Lake Fort Smith State Park, Mountainburg, AR

With your belly full, head back up I40 to Lake Fort Smith State Park for more amazing views of the beautiful Natural State. This scenic spot is nestled in a valley of the Boston Mountain Range of the Ozark Mountains on the west side of the 1,400-acre Lake Fort Smith. Not only will you enjoy the views, but you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
