Runk the Gap
Runk the Gap is a 2 person relay event taking place at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL benefiting Designs For Hope. Starting at the Redbud Pavilion (BMX track), teams will take off at 8pm on May 10th for a grueling 12 hour lap race that will end at 8am on May 11th. The number of loops completed within the 12 hour time frame will determine the results of the race. Teams will compete against each other in two separate categories - Run or Ruck. The course loop is a rugged, technical 6 miles of singletrack with a healthy dose of elevation gain and pain. Participants should be adequately prepared for navigating challenging terrain alone at night and will be required to carry a reliable headlight no less than 300 lumens. There will be two aid stations (one on the course and one at the staging area) stocked with water and very basic nutrition so plan accordingly. The back gate (North entrance) will be locked after hours, so all access to the race will be via the main front gate (South entrance) which is from the Cahaba Valley Rd exit on Interstate 65. Participants will register online as individuals and list their team-mate. Any partner changes must be done one week prior to race. One t-shirt is included in registration but you will have the option to purchase additional t-shirts for $20/each. While a portion of the proceeds goes to benefit Designs For Hope, you will have the option to give an additional donation if you feel inspired to do so. Please be at the Red Bud Pavilion with enough time for check in, instructions, announcements, and a pre-race message from the team. See you at the RUNK!
