Run Domestic Violence Out of Town 5K
October is Domestic Violence Awareness, a time dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence, honoring those we have lost in the battle, and showing support to survivors and theirs families as well as giving hope to those that still feel like there's no way out.
This event is especially important because as funding from the state continues to decrease, the cases on domestic violence have not. In Alabama alone ln 2022 their were over 300k reported cases of domestics violence and as anyone who has been through it, there are so many more that have gone unreported.
This run is more than just a race it is a collective stride towards fostering hope and support for survivors and their community. We host this event during Domestic Violence Awareness month to emphasize the importance of open conversations, speaking out, reporting, supporting, and healing from what has been done to you. You have survived all of your worst days.
All Funds collected go to Domestic Violence Crisis Services of Dekalb County and Kelley's Rainbow Domestic Violence Shelter located in Marshall County it is the only domestic violence shelter providing services for Cherokee, Dekalb, and Marshall County's with only 19 beds to house women and children in need of temporary relocation until a permanent solution can be found.
