Immerse yourself in the life of early Alabamians! The 23nd Pioneer Day is a free, living history and folk festival on the grounds of the Clarke County Museum in Grove Hill, AL.

Just some of the more than 30 interactive demonstrations include cracklins, basket making, pottery, shingle-making, Indian fingerweaving, soap making, spinning, Native medicine, Indian food, butter churning, candle dipping, spoon making, Creek language lessons, quill writing, hide tanning, atlatl throw, leather works, and Native Creek fishing and trading camps.

Kids can participate in the many free hands-on activities such making their own tin punch art, playing a comb harmonica, writing with a quill pen and walking on stilts. A special toddler area will have a hay maze and instead of a sand box, a corn box, with pails and shovels.
The famous Gee's Bend quilters will be demonstrating quilting and will be selling some of their beautiful handiwork. Winky Hicks and friends will be playing bluegrass music.

Save room for food when you attend! Homemade chicken and dumplins, turnip greens, cornbread and pies cooked over a fire will be available for sale, as well as delicious baked goods and hamburgers and hot dogs for those less adventurous.
