Lake Lurleen State Park

Located nine miles northwest of Tuscaloosa and Northport, this 1,625-acre park is a scenic retreat set on the banks of Lake Lurleen and offers plenty of recreation and relaxation. Facilities include a modern campground, activity building, picnic areas, play areas, pavilions, a beach and bathhouse, fishing piers, RV storage, boat rentals and boat-launch areas.  The main attraction at the park is the 250-acre Lake Lurleen. The lake measures nearly one and a half miles in length, one-half mile wide, and at its deepest is 48 feet. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bream, catfish, and crappie so anglers are sure to reel in a nice-sized catch. Boat-launch areas and ample pier and bank fishing are available.

BOATING AND FISHING

Lake Lurleen is a man-made 250-acre lake. It assumes an elongated shape with four major branches and three minor ones. The lake measures nearly one and one-half miles in length and up to one-half mile wide. The deepest portion of the lake is 48 feet.

DAY USE ENTRANCE FEE REQUIRED.

LAKE FEATURES

Types of fish:  largemouth bass, bream, catfish, and crappie
Three fishing piers
Fishing boat, paddle boat, and canoe rentals
Two public boat launching ramps (day use fees apply)
Gasoline motors of any size may be operated on the lake
No water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, personal watercraft, etc. are allowed
No swimming from boats, banks, or camp sites
Operator of any mechanically propelled boat (including electric/battery operated trolling motors) must have a valid Boater's License and boat must be registered with current year decals in place
Boats prohibited in designated swimming area
Each person in boat must have a Coast Guard Approved “Life Jacket”
Children under the age of 8 must wear “life jacket” at all times while in a boat
All State and Federal Boating Laws apply and are enforced

BOAT RENTAL RULES

Must be 16 years or older to rent a boat (16 year old or older must be in the boat)
Must have valid drivers license or state ID: Must leave with deposi for kayaks and paddle boards.
Each person in boat must have a Coast Guard Approved “Life Jacket”
Children under the age of 8 must wear “life jacket” at all times
Life jackets and/or paddles provided at no extra cost at time rental
Deposit is refundable if boat is returned and on time, and rules are not broken (rules provided at time of rental)
Boats not allowed in swimming area
No swimming from boats
Must have a boaters license to use trolling motor on boats

FISHING

Alabama State Fishing License required
Fishing allowed by rod and reel, or pole and line only
Trot lines, set hooks, gigs, nets, seines, spear guns, bow and arrow, etc. are PROHIBITED
Bank fishing after 9 p.m.. allowed from Pier One ONLY (Day Use Fees Apply - use the Honor System located at the back of the entrance building - valid receipt must be in your possession)
Fishing boats may launch from the south boat ramp after 9 p.m. (Day Use Fees Apply - use the Honor System located at the back of the entrance building - valid receipt must be in your possession)

Hidden Meadows Golf Course is a semi-private, family owned and operated golf course located in Northport, Alabama. Guest will enjoy an 18 hole championship golf course featuring Tift Dwarf Bermuda Greens; practice facility including driving range and large putting green; and a clubhouse with a pro shop and mixed grille. Hidden Meadows also has a swimming facility (for members use only) including a large pool, baby pool, and bathrooms. Come and play Northport's finest golf course.

TRAILS

TASHKA TRAIL SYSTEM

The Tashka Trail System totals approximately 23.47 miles of trails comprised on one main trail with five loops off of the main trail.  This system has only two trail heads (north and south) to access the trails.

SWIMMING

SWIMMING/BEACH AREA

Come to Lake Lurleen and enjoy fun in the sun on the sandy beach
Swimming is allowed in the roped off area only
Please stay within the roped off area, and stay off of the rope and anchor poles.  This restriction is for your safety.
Lifeguards are not available so swim at your own risk
Swimming from other lakeside areas, bridges, piers, camp sites, boats, etc. is prohibited
A small beach side pavilion is available on a first come first serve basis and is not reservable - no cooking/grilling allowed
Beach bathroom provided - exterior rinse showers only
Alcohol, pets and cooking are not allowed on the beach, beach pavilion, parking lot, playground, or surrounding areas
The use of metal detectors on the beach or any area of the park is prohibited without prior approval from the park manager

PICNIC AREAS

Picnic areas are available at Lake Lurleen State Park.  Tables and pedestal charcoal grills are on site, or bring your own grill.
