Alaska Bald Eagle Festival

Every November, the Valley of Eagles transforms into a breathtaking haven for Bald Eagles, hosting the largest congregation in the nation. Witness the awe-inspiring sight of up to 3,000 bald eagles gathering along a stunning four-mile stretch of the Chilkat River, within the expansive 48,000-acre Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, near Haines.

These magnificent birds return to the Chilkat Valley each fall to feast during the late salmon run. Imagine yourself amidst this incredible spectacle, surrounded by scores of bald eagles against the backdrop of Alaska's pristine waters. It's an experience that will stay with you forever

Throughout November, join us for a variety of events as we celebrate these majestic birds. The peak eagle congregation can vary with weather and fish run conditions, so there will be multiple opportunities to witness this natural wonder.

Schedule:

10:00 a.m: Catch the Eagle Spirit: Scavenger Hunt and Fun Run
Haines Visitor Center
Scavenger hunt and fun run through a 2 mile stretch of town.
Snap photos and share your adventure with #AlaskaBaldEagleFestival as you hunt for eagle images featuring interesting eagle facts.
Light snacks and prizes upon returning to the visitor center.

10:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m: Creative Workshops
American Bald Eagle Foundation
Workshops include Owl Pellet Dissection and Falconry Know Tying.
Guest Speakers on various topics surrounding the Chilkat Valley.
Food Spread Included. $15 admission.
